Wherever we go, we cast the vision to the local artists to imagine the impact their music and art could make both for their churches and within their local communities. We are thrilled to announce that in March 2020 Elias Atayi from Togo founded ERFA, Equal Rights for All, as a vehicle through which to impact his local community. We had the privilege of working with Elias and a team of musicians he assembled in March of 2019. We would like to think that we had some impact on his decision to launch ERFA, but regardless, we are proud of him and praying for his success.
Today’s video, “Respect Les Measures” (Respect the Measures) challenges local communities to follow COVID-19 hygiene measures both for their own safety and the safety of others (lyrics below).
Please pray for Elias and his fellow artists as they seek to bless their churches and communities, using local music, dance and visual arts. (more to come!)
Respect Les Measures
Chorus
Thousands are dying
More are being infected
Don’t stop respecting the barrier measures
Thousands are dying
More are being infected
Oh God help us!
1. In my streets, people barely believe
My eyes have seen thousands in bars
Mask are on to avoid police
Not the disease
Oh, how sad!
Covid-19 is not an anecdote
When you protect yourself, you protect me, and we are fine
Wash your hands and keep social distancing
Sneeze into your elbow and put on your mask properly
The pandemic is still wreaking havoc
Oheo, protect yourself
Our thoughts go out to all victims, we salute you
Oheo, be strong!
2. Ah how about children, how are they doing?
Do they have a roof over their heads, or they are in the street?
And women, are they well treated?
Or are they abused, assaulted, segregated?
Our thoughts go out to all the infected
To all those families affected and bereaved
To all the detainees
Keep the faith, it shall be well
The pandemic is still wreaking havoc
Oheo, protect yourself
Our thoughts go out to all victims, we salute you
Oheo, be strong!
Enjoy!
