“And it seemed to them that they did little but eat and drink and rest, and walk among the trees; and it was enough.”

This quote from J.R.R.Tolkien’s The Two Towers summed up our very brief getaway. Mary Lu’s health improved to the point that we were able to go for a short hiking trip Fri/Sat among the trees at Uwharrrie National Forest here in North Carolina. The forest has always been a place of restoration for me and I’m amazed that Mary Lu “there better be nice bathrooms” Anthony was up for the challenge (no bathrooms – just lots of trees and a little shovel) . . . and had a great time!

God continues to bring new people and organizations into our ministry life. We can now say with some confidence that this new chapter of ministry life includes 1) continued innovation and refinement of strategic song initiatives in the unreached world; 2) mentoring a younger generation to follow in our footsteps, and 3) expanding the scope of our ministry to art forms beyond music. At this point, however, we don’t know what all of this is going to look like – but God does! Please keep us in your prayers as we seek to be faithful to all that God has for us to do.

We are hoping that the weather, our health and our deadlines will allow us to get away for some serious hiking on the Appalachian trail a week from today. Being off the grid and among the trees is so good for rest, reflection and kicking around some big ideas.

Enjoy!
